EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Picnic Casket Shares a Cover of the Labor Movement Classic “Solidarity Forever” from the Upcoming DSA SF Benefit Compilation

Bay Area Punk band Picnic Casket and Fine Shammy Records have teamed up with Ghost Cult to premiere the new cover of the anthem of the American Labor Movement and Trade Union classic, “Solidarity Forever!” The track comes from the new DSA SF benefit compilation Solidarity Voices, dropping this week from Fine Shammy Records on Friday, July 21st, 2023. Fine Shammy is a bespoke artist-centric label featuring underground artists from across many genres, as represented by the comp. The fundraiser for the album will benefit the DSA SF Strike Labor Board in its efforts to support UPS Teamsters through this difficult contract negotiation and possible strike and is priced at just $5! Once UPS and Teamsters have a new contract, the expanded release will have bonus tracks, physical versions, and stream to all DSPs. A music video for this track is also in the works. San Francisco punk rockers Picnic Casket hold the picket line with the lead single “Solidarity Forever,” which is brand new version of the traditional trade union anthem. Lyrics were written in 1915 by Wobbly labor activist Ralph Chaplin.

All profits from album sales benefit the DSA SF Strike Labor Board in its efforts to support UPS Teamsters through the current contract negotiation and possible strike. In the event excess funds remain after the Teamsters/UPS contract is ratified, they will be earmarked for the DSA SF Strike Ready Committee’s continuing activities, supporting strike readiness and other labor organizing support.”
